Trading Card Investment Tip Complete Highlander Cards

I publish a guide on collecting non-sport autographed cards. As a result of collecting e-Bay auction price data, certain trends in prices come to my attention more quickly than might be the case for people who do not follow the prices on a daily basis. In my guide I give information on how to pick a card that is likely to increase in value. Based on those guidelines I have found some cards that show good promise. I do not make buying recommendations, I just point out some cards that have come to my attention and indicate the reasons why I believe they will increase in value. I will leave it to you to judge for yourself if my reasoning is correct.

I have only found two cards of interest from the highlander set.

A18 Ron Perlman as The Messenger--$10.00

Traci Lords became famous as an underage adult movie star.

Ron Perlman also has an autograph card for the movie Hellboy.

Scifi Channel sold merchandise for a short while in 1999-2000, and one of the items from the Farscape Collection was a set of 6 cards where one was signed by either Virginia Hey, Claudia Black or Gigi Edgley. The hand signed ink autographs were signed across the face of the cards. The same cards also have those without the autograph as well as SF1, SF3, and SF5 which do not have autographs. These are rare since only 500 were produced. I do not think all of them were sold because they are very rarely seen in e-Bay auctions. I would estimate that there are no more than 100 of these cards. In fact I think these are the rarest of the Farscape cards. Very nice cards indeed. This is an excellent set of cards for the investor. Claudia Black also has an autograph card for The Chronicles of Riddick. Virginia Hey has a signed card as the Bond Girl Rubavitch in the Living Daylights in the 40th Anniversary James Bond 007 card set.

In this set Gigi Edgley, Virginia Hey and Claudia Black tend to be the higher value cards. Claudia Black also has an autograph card for The Chronicles of Riddick. Virginia Hey has a signed card as the Bond Girl Rubavitch (The Living Daylights) in the 40th Anniversary James Bond 007 card set.

Chronicles of Riddick Autographed Cards

Each piece is scarce as the entire production run of this product was limited to only 3,000 boxes and there are only 2 autograph cards per box! That is a very small run for a smash summer movie. The fact is no one expected this movie to be such a hit. The movie was licensed for a very successful computer game. The initial interest in these cards was very high. Then interest cooled a bit. The price of the card has begun to rise sharply again. I think the price of these cards will continue to rise. Many of the actors who did the autographs have very strong careers. Claudia Black and Karl Urban have cards from other sets including Farscape, Xena and Lord of the Rings. I think we are going to see a lot more from these young actors. I expect the value of all the Riddick cards to be a good deal higher a year from now. Alexa Davalos as Kyra seems to be among the most sought after cards in the set, both autographed and base cards.

Of the ten autographed cards in the set these are the six plus the costume card that I believe have the greatest investment potential. Benchwarmer Tanya Ballinger and Kitana Baker cards

In the Miller Lite catfight commercial for the Superbowl, Kitana was "less filling" and Tanya Ballinger was "tastes great". This add gave both these models a huge amount of publicity and they have not been slow in using their moment of fame to advance their careers. As a result of the increase in their popularity, the price of their cards has gone up sharply. A Kitana Baker Kiss card sold for $230.00 on e-Bay just a few months ago. A Tanya & Kitana Benchwarmer Kiss card sold for $511.00 on March 12, 2004. Tanya Ballinger swatch card sold for $430.00. As is common when one of a person's cards sells at high prices, it tends to drive up the price of all their cards in time. I am seeing this happen now. All Tanya Ballinger and Kitana Baker cards have begun to rise in price and they are getting more bids then just a short time ago. I believe this trend is likely to continue for some time yet so these cards may be good ones to watch.
